Nairobi Cattery was established in 1988 as a small
jungle-like cattery housing 10 felis Bengals. Today we still
have the same number of cats so we can give individual
attention and love to all inhabitants. The main goal of this
cattery is to strive to perfect the Bengal breed by producing
beautiful, healthy, loving kittens that look like their
ancestor, the Asian Leopard Cat. All of our queens live
inside our home, running on their own as family members.
However, the studs must be kept outdoors as they tend to
spray. They are kept in huge runs with heated and air
conditioned sleeping quarters.
We strive for the development of large, muscular Bengals
with rosetted patterns, pelted and glittered coats, and
ticking is avoided at all costs as it takes away from the
beautiful contrast. Looking at one of these animals will
remind the owner that the pure Asian Leopard Cat is an
ancestor. The beauty of one of these cats is astonishing. One
may compare it to an exotic cat from an exotic country that
is roaming through your home.
It has taken many years to develop this beautiful
leopard-like creature that has a loving personality and the
charm of an old fashioned farm cat, but still has that exotic
element. Nairobi Cattery is a closed cattery which means we
do not offer stud service or send our queens out to be bred.
The only person that I work with and have shared my stud cats
with for the past 15 years is Gene Ducote at Gogees
Cattery.
We occasionally have kittens and adults for sale (pet, breeder, and show
quality). We ship only on approved airlines. All kittens are vet checked
and a health certificate is issued by our local vet. We are a TICA and
Vet Certified cattery. I wish to thank Gene Ducote, from Gogees Cattery,
for working with me for so many years to develop the rosetting and clear
coat that we have today; without her efforts, we wouldn't be where we
are with the bengals today.
